§ 01 / Our Commitment

Our Commitment

HEADGATE TECHNOLOGY LTD ("HEADGATE", "we", "us") is committed to making headgatetech.com (the "Site") accessible to people with disabilities. Accessibility is treated as a quality attribute of our work, not a checkbox.

We aim for the Site to partially conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). "Partially conforms" means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. Our roadmap to full conformance is set out in Section 4.

§ 02 / Standards We Reference

Standards We Reference

WCAG 2.2 AA is the modern global benchmark. It also satisfies most of what U.S. Section 508 and EU EN 301 549 ask for, plus Hong Kong's local recognition scheme.

StandardReason
WCAG 2.2 Level AAGlobal benchmark for web accessibility, referenced by U.S. ADA case law, EU Web Accessibility Directive, and most other jurisdictions
Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act (revised)U.S. federal procurement and reasonable-accommodation context
EN 301 549 (V3.2.1 or later)EU public-sector accessibility law and Web Accessibility Directive baseline
Hong Kong OGCIO Web Accessibility Recognition SchemeLocal recognition scheme for HK websites
AODA (Ontario, Canada)Where HEADGATE serves Ontario clients
§ 03 / Current Conformance Status

Current Conformance Status

Below is what works, what we know is partial, and what's not yet covered. We update this section after every audit.

3.1 Passing

  • HTML lang attribute set on every page
  • Responsive layout works at 320px width and at 200% zoom
  • Focus states visible on interactive elements
  • Color is not the only means used to convey information for primary content
  • No content flashes more than three times per second

3.2 Partial / Known Issues

  • Images: Some decorative images are missing explicit role="presentation" or empty alt="". Some content images have alt text that summarizes rather than describes. Refresh planned in the next content cycle.
  • Headings: Some sections use heading levels for visual emphasis rather than document hierarchy. We are converting these to semantic headings.
  • Forms: Some forms are missing visible labels in all states; placeholder-only labels are being replaced with persistent labels.
  • Color contrast: Our muted-tone palette in some marketing sections is below the 4.5:1 ratio for body text. We are revising the palette in the next design refresh.
  • Keyboard navigation: Custom interactive components (e.g., the cookie-consent UI) need keyboard-trap and focus-restoration improvements.
  • Skip-to-content link: Not yet implemented on every template.

3.3 Not Yet Covered

  • Video content: We do not currently host video on the marketing site. If we add video, we will provide captions and transcripts before publishing.
  • Third-party content: Some third-party widgets we embed (e.g., scheduling, video) may not fully conform. We choose vendors with accessibility commitments where possible and prefer accessible alternatives.

3.4 Last Audit

  • Last automated audit:
  • Last manual / assistive-technology audit:

§ 04 / Roadmap to Full Conformance

Roadmap to Full Conformance

A real plan with dates, not a wishlist.

QuarterTarget
2026-Q2Run automated audits (axe DevTools + WAVE + Lighthouse) on every public template; resolve all critical findings
2026-Q2Add skip-to-content link site-wide; add visible focus indicators where missing; resolve color-contrast palette issues
2026-Q3Manual screen-reader sweep (NVDA on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS/iOS, TalkBack on Android)
2026-Q3Engage a third-party accessibility audit firm; obtain a VPAT/Accessibility Conformance Report
2026-Q4Update this statement to reflect new audit results; aim for "fully conforms" where supported by the audit
OngoingAccessibility regression testing in CI for all template changes
§ 05 / How We Test

How We Test

A mix of automated tools, manual checks, and assistive-technology testing.

  • Automated: axe DevTools, WAVE, Lighthouse Accessibility (run pre-merge in CI for design-system changes).
  • Keyboard-only: Manual tab-through of every interactive element.
  • Screen readers: NVDA (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS / iOS), TalkBack (Android), JAWS (Windows).
  • Browsers: Latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
  • Zoom and reflow: Tested at 200% zoom and 320 CSS pixels width.
  • Reduced motion: Honored via prefers-reduced-motion media query.
